Photo of Prof. Indra Prasad Tiwari, PhD

I am Indra P Tiwari, PhD, an independent scholar, and a Professor of Development Planning & Human Settlements Development. I obtained MA Degree in Geography from Tribhuvan University, Nepal; MSc in Human Settlements Development and PhD in Rural and Regional Development Planning from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

I have experience working with eight universities in Nepal, Thailand and Japan including the National Institute of Development Administration, Thailand and the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan as a Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

I have worked for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) as policy expert seconded by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. I also worked for GTZ, United Nations TCDC, the Government of Nepal and a prominent national NGO, Rural Self Reliance Development Centre (RSDC).

My diverse research interests include development policy, human settlements development systems and spatial organization; employment creation, income generation, poverty alleviation, prosperity creation and sustainable livelihood development; urban development, migration, transport and logistics and tourism; social security, social and community dynamics; environment and social impact assessment; project evaluation and research methodology.

I am affiliated to a number of national and international professional and social organizations and institutions. I have attended over 40 international conferences and published about a dozen journal articles.
